Our Policies

At INVERNESS Cattery, we breed American Shorthairs that are to the standard and are guaranteed to be healthy and free of infectious disease at the time of purchase. By the time kittens are ready to leave the cattery, they will be spayed or neutered and have received the necessary shots needed for the first year. They are guaranteed to be feline leukemia-negative, FIV-negative, and ringworm free.

Kittens are born and raised in our home so they can receive the special attention needed. They are handled several times a day by some people and children are frequent visitors to ensure they are well socialized. They are raised underfoot with our pups.

Kittens will be ready for their new homes at 16 weeks. By this time the kitten will be spayed or neutered and have had all the required shots, will be well socialized, and will be old enough to easily adjust to new owners and environment.

  • All Kittens will be spayed/neutered and current on all vaccinations before going to new homes.
  • The Cat must not be sold, leased or given away to any pet shop, research laboratory or similar facility.
  • It is our intent to find permanent placement. If the buyer can no longer keep a cat, we will be notified and given first right of taking the cat back.
  • If we choose not to reclaim the cat it is the responsibility of the buyer to place the cat in a loving pet home.
  • The Cat will be kept indoor at all times unless it is in a carrier or on a leash with an adult present.
  • The Cat will not be declawed.
  • If there are other cats in the buyer’s household, the cat must be quarantined until the buyer’s veterinarian verifies the cat is in good health within 72 hours; otherwise the health guarantee is null and void.
  • The Cat should be fed premium food. We use and recommend Farmina.

We will be available to answer questions or discuss concerns that you may be experiencing.
